42Gears SureMDM Classification Details

42Gears SureMDM Classification Details

This article summarizes which device attributes can be enriched from our connector with 42Gears SureMDM, and the benefits of using that enriched data in policy.

The 42Gears SureMDM connector gives Elisity detailed device data for policy decisions across managed OT endpoints. SureMDM's agent-based platform collects hardware details, software posture, compliance state, and group assignments from each managed device. Elisity combines its own network-based discovery with this management data to apply policy to devices such as HMIs, engineering workstations, operator workstations, and virtualized PLCs.

Query Match Order

When a new device is discovered by any of Elisity's methods, Cloud Control Center queries 42Gears SureMDM using the following parameters until a match is found:

  1. MAC Address (primary)
  2. IP Address (fallback if MAC is not known)

Engage Elisity support to modify the behavior of the above query order.

Refresh Cycle

Cloud Control Center queries 42Gears SureMDM every 24 hours for updated device attributes. This interval is configurable from 1 to 168 hours through the Global Timer setting in the connector's advanced settings.

Enrichment data can also be refreshed on demand by clicking the refresh button next to 42Gears SureMDM under the Trust Attributes section in the device's IdentityGraph view.

Devices that were learned before the connector was configured are automatically scheduled for enrichment during the next 24-hour cycle based on their attachment timestamp.

The refresh button appears next to the 42Gears SureMDM entry in the Trust Attributes section of the device's IdentityGraph view.

Core Effective Attributes

42Gears SureMDM maps the following attributes to Elisity Core Effective Attributes. When 42Gears SureMDM is the highest-priority connector, these values populate the device's core identity in IdentityGraph:

SureMDM Attribute Elisity Core Effective Attribute Example Value
Hostname Hostname file-server
Device Model Name Model VMware7,1
Device Manufacture Vendor VMware, Inc.
Platform Type Operating System Windows
